The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), in support of the national campaign for World Oral Health Day, has launched a comprehensive medical initiative aimed at improving the oral hygiene of its personnel and their families at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital (DFMH).
The campaign aligns with the global theme for World Oral Health Day, “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Mind,” emphasizing the crucial link between oral health and overall well-being. This initiative highlights the collaboration between KDF and the Ministry of Health (MOH) in promoting the health of KDF personnel while raising awareness about the importance of oral care.
Speaking on behalf of the Director of Medical Services, the Chief of Medical Services, Brigadier (Dr.) Muithya Ngundo, expressed appreciation to the MOH for leading the campaign. He encouraged MOH officials to extend similar initiatives to various locations across the city for broader public access and impact.
“This is a commendable initiative and marks the beginning of our partnership in service delivery to the people of Kenya. KDF is committed to participating in similar programs in the future,” Brig. Ngundo stated.
The MOH, in turn, expressed gratitude to KDF for partnering in this initiative, emphasizing the significance of oral health as a key component of overall health and well-being.
During the three-day event, KDF medical personnel will provide free dental check-ups, cleanings, treatments, counseling, and health talks to attendees.
Present at the launch were Commandant DFMH, Brigadier John Khahoya, senior officers, service members, and MOH officials.
