INVESTITURE OF RANKS AS NEW KAFSM TAKES POST

The Kenya Air Force held a colourful Investiture of Ranks ceremony to mark the appointment of the new Kenya Air Force Sergeant Major (KAFSM), Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Leparsalach Franco, at the Kenya Air Force Headquarters, Moi Air Base, Eastleigh.

The ceremony also served as a farewell for the outgoing KAFSM, WOI Dennis Talengo, who retires after over forty years of selfless service to the country. The event was graced by the Commander Kenya Air Force, Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed.

WOI Leparsalach, who enlisted into the Kenya Defence Forces in 1985, rose through the ranks to become the Base Sergeant Major at Moi Air Base (MAB) in March 2024. He previously served as the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) Guard of Honour and held various command appointments at unit and wing levels.

During the ceremony, Maj Gen Ahmed officially conferred the new rank of Kenya Air Force Sergeant Major to WOI Leparsalach Franco, urging him to uphold the core values of the Kenya Air Force while working closely with other Service Sergeant Majors to enhance the welfare and discipline of service members.

In her remarks, Maj Gen Ahmed commended WOI Talengo for his unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and mentorship, describing him as a pillar of discipline and inspiration in the Air Force.

“Your dedication, leadership, and selflessness have left an indelible mark on the Kenya Air Force. You have inspired generations of airmen and women. As you retire, we thank you for your distinguished service and wish you the very best in your future endeavours,” said Maj Gen Ahmed.

The Deputy Commander Kenya Air Force, Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir, lauded the outgoing KAFSM for his exemplary service and encouraged the incoming KAFSM to emulate his predecessor’s leadership.

“WOI Talengo, your service has been an inspiration to many. As you retire, your legacy will continue to guide the Kenya Air Force. To the incoming KAFSM, congratulations on your appointment. Lead with integrity, courage, and dedication to the service,” said Brig Kipkorir.

WOI Talengo retires as the longest-serving KAFSM in the history of the Kenya Air Force, having held the prestigious position for nine years. His tenure is marked by exceptional leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the welfare of service members. He played a pivotal role in enhancing discipline, mentoring junior personnel, and championing various welfare programmes within the Kenya Air Force.

His legacy of selfless service and commitment to excellence will continue to inspire generations of airmen and women.
