REQUIEM MASS FOR FORMER DFSM WARRANT OFFICER CLASS 1 ELIJAH ASPRO KORANGA

A requiem mass was held today at the Kenya Military Academy (KMA) in Lanet for the late former Defence Forces Sergeant Major (DFSM), Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Elijah Aspro Koranga.

The ceremony, was marked by deep reverence, brought together serving and retired military personnel, family, and friends to honor the legacy of the retired Service Member. His dedication to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) left an enduring mark.

The mass was officiated by Major (Fr) Peter Korir from the KMA Roman Catholic Church, whose sermon emphasized duty, sacrifice, and faith. Father Korir praised the DFSM for his exemplary leadership, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the KDF, which set a high standard for those who served under him.

Major General Jeff Nyagah, the General Officer Commanding Western Command (GOC WESTCOM), who represented the Chief of the Defence Forces, described the former DFSM as an individual who diligently shaped the discipline and professionalism of the KDF personnel.

“His sense of duty was an inspiration to both officers and service members of the KDF. He will be remembered as a mentor, a patriot, and a soldier whose service embodied the values of courage, integrity, and selflessness,” he noted.

The burial ceremony will take place at his home in Nyakach Bugo Sub County, Kisumu, on Saturday, 1st March 2024.
