Kenya Defence Forces troops operating under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) embarked on a series of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities to build positive relationships with local communities, thereby gaining their trust and support by demonstrating commitment to their well-being.
KDF troops based in Baragoi FOB shared their meals with pupils and staff of Naling’ang’or Primary school, held a medical camp (Medicamp) and managed to administer two hundred pupils with de-wormers while fifty pupils managed to get prescriptions for various. In addition, the troops supplied clean drinking water.
Elsewhere in Kolowa FOB, KDF troops in collaboration with Medical Mission Africa (MeMA) conducted a medicamp at Todo and Kakapul and managed to attend to more than two hundred and fifty patients. The medicamp ran for three days.
Additionally, KDF troops from Chemoligot Multi-Agency Command Centre and Chesitet FOB distributed water, food, clothes, and carried out medicamp to residents of Lomelo.
Speaking during the event at Naling’ang’or Primary school the Officer Commanding Baragoi FOB, Major Asyago Sadaka emphasized on the importance of education especially on children noting that education is beneficial to children as it will offer varied options in life.
Mr. Daniel Lotow Assistant Chief Kakapul sub-location appreciated the efforts by KDF and assured the troops of the community’s continued support in the fight against banditry until normalcy is restored in the region.
