On 17 December 2024, the Kenya Army Corps of Signals (KACS) visited the Father’s Shelter Children’s Home in Mumbi Location, Githurai Sub County, Kiambu County. The visit provided the Corps an opportunity to interact with the children and spread festive cheer ahead of the Christmas holidays.
During the visit, the founder of the home, Mrs. Mary Njuguna, expressed her gratitude to the KACS personnel for their kind gesture, which saw over 30 children, aged 2 to 17 years, receive donations of foodstuffs and other essential items.
“We are not used to having men in uniform visit us, and the children are truly delighted. We sincerely appreciate this caring act,” she said.
The KACS team leader, Major Kennedy Kimani, commended the home’s management for their bold initiative in ensuring the children live with dignity and encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
“Every child has a right to protection and care, which provides the right environment to achieve their life goals.
The KDF values humanity, and it is our leadership’s desire to see communities thrive and the younger generation reach their aspirations,” he said.
The KDF continues to assess and respond to immediate community needs to improve living standards, as envisioned in its Humanitarian Civic Assistance (HCA) programme.
