KDF CHAPLAINCY HOSTS YOUTH MENTORSHIP SEMINAR

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Chaplaincy recently organized an interfaith youth mentorship seminar at Mariakani Garrison in Kilifi County, focusing on moral and spiritual development for young participants.

Led by Colonel (Imam) Athman Rajab, the seminar brought together youth from both Mariakani Garrison and the Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Mtongwe. The event aimed to provide guidance during the upcoming festive season, encouraging the youth to use their time meaningfully during the long school break.

Col. Rajab highlighted the importance of self-reflection during the holidays, urging the youth to consider their achievements and challenges from the past year to help shape their goals for 2025 and beyond.
“The holidays offer you a good opportunity for reflection. Think about the year’s activities, the achievements, and the challenges you encountered. This will inform your trajectory come 2025 and going forward,” he stated.

The seminar addressed crucial issues including drug and substance abuse, gender orientation, mental health awareness, and peer counseling.

Mariakani Garrison Commander Brigadier Joseph Mokwena applauded KDF’s leadership for supporting such a significant initiative. He encouraged the youth to apply the insights they gained and to remain vigilant against negative influences, especially those propagated through social media.
