The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU), partnered with Medical Mission Africa (MeMA) to conduct a two-day medical camp at Kapedo Mixed Secondary School and Lokorpok/Kasakaram village in Chesakam sub-location.
The camp provided medical consultations, treatments, general check-ups, nutritional assessments, and deworming services to over 450 residents. Complex cases were referred to Chemolingot Health Center.
Additionally, residents received valuable education on hygiene, nutrition, and the importance of regular clinic visits.
KDF troops also distributed water to Chesakam residents, who have faced severe water shortages due to prolonged dry seasons and a malfunctioning community borehole.
Major Y H Sora, Officer Commanding Chesitet Forward Operations Base (FOB), encouraged residents to foster peaceful coexistence and become peace ambassadors.
Kasakaram village chairman, Mr. Kanyakera Lolima, expressed gratitude for the water donation, noting the challenging circumstances residents face in obtaining water.
“Since our borehole broke down, life has been difficult. This donation reflects the brotherhood shown by our soldiers,” he said.
Mr. Wycliffe Ayienda Mayaka, Clinical Officer with MeMA, urged residents to maintain home hygiene to reduce infections among children, while Ms. Mercy Esmit Ekorikou, Chief of Kapedo location, commended KDF and MeMA’s efforts and assured continued local support for peace efforts until stability is fully restored in the region.
