KENYA NAVY PAYS COURTESY CALL TO MOMBASA COUNTY GOVERNOR

On 5th November 2024, Base Commander, Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Brigadier Abraham Biwott, paid a courtesy visit to Mombasa Governor H.E. Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir at the Mombasa County Headquarters. This meeting aimed at reinforcing the commitment of both the Kenya Navy and Mombasa County Government to strengthen ties and enhance cooperation.

During the visit, Brigadier Biwott and Governor Nassir discussed key areas of mutual interest, such as security, community development, and collaborative initiatives. Brigadier Biwott conveyed appreciation for the ongoing support from Mombasa County Government, acknowledging the long-standing partnership between the Kenya Navy and local communities.

A central topic during the visit was an update on preparations for the upcoming Navy at 60 celebrations, scheduled for December. The milestone event will commemorate 60 years since the founding of the Kenya Navy, with a series of events planned both prior to and on the anniversary day.

Governor Nassir extended his congratulations to the Kenya Navy on its approaching 60th anniversary and recognized its vital role in securing Kenya’s coastal borders and contributing to regional peace and security.

Brigadier Biwott was joined by Commander Kenya Navy Fleet Brigadier Mohammed Shemote, Medical Officer, Lt. Col. (Dr.) Judith Adipo, Commanding Officer of Kenya Navy Ship NYAYO Major Abdirizack Alio, and Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Beatrice Akinyi.
