The Kenya Air Force (KAF) convened its 2024 Formation Commanders’ Meeting on October 17, 2024, at Moi Air Base (MAB) Nairobi.
The event focused on the theme “Elevating KAF Excellence through Transformative Leadership” and served as an annual platform for strategic deliberations and the development of operational directives among the senior leadership of KAF.
During her address, Commander KAF, Maj Gen Fatuma Ahmed, emphasized the importance of enhancing operational readiness and modernization to address growing security challenges. She highlighted transformative leadership as a key element in boosting KAF’s effectiveness and efficiency, essential for achieving mission readiness.
A significant part of the discussions also centered around the welfare and morale of personnel.
Maj Gen Ahmed urged commanders to prioritize improving the work-life balance of their teams, asserting that a motivated and well-supported force is crucial for high performance and operational success. She called on commanders to reinforce discipline, be inspirational, and prioritize moral support, considering these elements vital for fostering an efficient and effective Air Force.
Deputy Commander KAF, Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir, expressed his support for the initiatives discussed. He emphasized the need for collaboration among all ranks to implement the transformative leadership principles outlined by Maj Gen Ahmed.
Brig Kipkorir also stressed the importance of open communication and teamwork to maintain high morale and operational readiness within KAF. He encouraged commanders to adopt innovation and adaptability in their leadership approach, ensuring KAF remains prepared to meet evolving national security demands.
In her closing remarks, Maj Gen Ahmed reiterated the essential role of KAF in safeguarding Kenya’s airspace. She highlighted KAF’s significant involvement in disaster response and humanitarian missions, noting its contributions to national development and public trust.
The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to elevating KAF’s excellence through innovative practices, authentic leadership, and enhanced collaboration, ensuring the continued protection of Kenya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The event was attended by senior officers, including Base Commander Moi Air Base, Brig Bernard Oluoch; Base Commander Laikipia Air Base, Brig Mohamud Farah; Base Commander Wajir Air Base, Brig Stephen Sane; Base Commander Embakasi Air Base, Brig Stephen Kapkory; and Principal of Defence Forces Technical College, Brig Ali Dahir, along with other senior officers.
