DEFENCE MINISTRY PERFORMANCE CONTRACT FOR 2024/2025 RATIFIED

The Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Hon. Soipan Tuya, on 16 October 24 hosted senior officers from the office of the Secretary to the Cabinet, for the vetting and validation of Ministry of Defence Performance Contract for the Financial Year 2024/2025. Heading the team was Deputy Chief of Staff for Performance and Delivery Management, Hon. Eliud Owalo.

During the session, the Ministry highlighted its key achievements over the past two years, emphasizing its role of defending and protecting the people of the Republic of Kenya and their property against external aggression, maintaining peace across the country, engaging in Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), and conducting Humanitarian Civic Actions (HCAs). The Ministry’s collaboration with other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) was recognized as a significant contributor to the nation’s socioeconomic development.

The team was also briefed on the Ministry’s upcoming programs and projects for the current fiscal year, which align with the constitutional mandate, the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV), and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

In her remarks, Hon. Tuya reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fulfilling its national duties while supporting Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies under its purview, ensuring they reach their full potential.

Hon. Owalo commended the Ministry’s dedication, patriotism, and consistency, noting that these qualities have been central to its continued success.

Also in attendance were Principal Secretaries Dr. Patrick Mariru (Defence) and Hon. Idris Dakota (State Department for Cabinet Affairs), along with Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Operations, Doctrine, and Training, Major General Frederick Leuria. Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Government Delivery Unit, the Public Service Management Directorate, the Ministry of Devolution & Planning, the Cabinet Office, and the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs were also present.
