On October 6, 2024, Major Paul Chacha, Officer Commanding Kenya Signal Company 2 (KENSIG 2), along with his team, visited the Orphelinat Mama Olive Lembe Kabila Children’s Home in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The visit aimed to offer support to the children, making them feel appreciated and loved. Lieutenant Colonel Simon Seda, Contingent Commander of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops in DRC, was also in attendance.

The day began with the preparation of Congolese delicacies at the orphanage, followed by a shared lunch with the children. The troops and children engaged in various activities, including singing, dancing, acting, and prayers led by the company’s clergy. Additionally, the Kenyan troops distributed food and household items to support the children.

In his remarks, Maj. Chacha expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the peaceful relationship between the orphanage, the local community, and KENSIG 2. He emphasized the importance of providing hope to the orphans and stressed that peace and stability are crucial in overcoming the challenges posed by internal conflicts.
Madam Navisa, the orphanage’s Director, expressed her appreciation for the visit and the gifts provided by the soldiers. She wished KENSIG 2 success in their peacekeeping mission and hoped for the continuation of their bond of friendship and support.

“We are grateful to Kenya Signal 2 Company for celebrating with us today. Your presence has brought happiness, and the gifts you’ve shared will be cherished. I wish you all the best as you continue your noble work,” she said.
Lieutenant Colonel Seda also praised the gesture, encouraging the troops to continue strengthening their relationship with the local community, especially vulnerable groups, which is essential in the pursuit of peace.
“We are one people, and it is always a privilege to interact with our brothers and sisters here in DRC. We shall continue to work with the citizenry in this endeavor,” he said.

The visit by KENSIG 2 demonstrated their commitment to goodwill and compassion, showcasing how Civil-Military Cooperation activities allow the troops to positively impact the lives of others as they fulfill their duties.
