81 TANK BATTALION TRIUMPHS AT ARMOURED BRIGADE SPORTS COMPETITION

81 Tank Battalion emerged as the 2024 Armoured Brigade Inter-unit Sports champions after a week-long event featuring various disciplines.

The competition, held from Monday, 23rd September to Friday, 27th September at 81 Tank Battalion, Lanet, Nakuru County, brought together Brigade units from Isiolo, Gilgil, and Nakuru.

Participants competed in sports such as Cross country, Athletics, Football, Basketball, Handball, and Volleyball, with both male and female teams represented.

78 Tank Battalion secured second place, while 86 Armoured Recce Battalion (ARB) and 76 ARB finished third and fourth, respectively.

The event also served as an opportunity for the Armoured Brigade to identify top sportsmen and women who will compete in the upcoming Kenya Defence Forces Inter-Formation Sports Competitions.

During the closing ceremony, Commander Armoured Brigade, Brigadier Joel Arimi, commended the participants for their effort and praised the high standards of the event’s organization. He reiterated the Army Commander’s motto of “Physical Fitness, Welfare, and Training,” and acknowledged the participants for their sportsmanship and commitment to safety.

Also present at the event were Deputy Brigade Commander Colonel Johanna Chemitei, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Nkoima of 78 Tank Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Njue of 76 ARB, Major Gichuru of 86 ARB, along with other Officers and Service Members.
