The Wajir Air Base (WAB) Football Team recently took part in the Wajir Peace Tournament, themed “Usalama ni Jukumu la Pamoja” (Security is a Collective Responsibility). Sponsored by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the event was organized in collaboration with the Border Management Secretariat (BMS) and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
The WAB team performed impressively, advancing through several stages before falling to the Medina team in the finals after a penalty shootout.
The tournament aimed to unite the local community and multi-agency security teams, promoting trust and cooperation. It highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and security through collective efforts, while also fostering stronger ties between the community and security agencies.
Notable attendees included Major Bethuel Masai from WAB, Wajir East Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) George Onyango, Wajir North DCC Henry Katana, Wajir South DCC Mr. Kefa Kigeni, Chief of township, Mr. Abdiazis, Chief Ibrahim Mohammed, Chief Abdi Ibrahim, and other community leaders.
