9 KR DOMINATES IN THE 2ND BRIGADE ARMS AND FOOT DRILL COMPETITION

9 Kenya Rifles (9KR) triumphed in the Second Brigade (2BDE) Arms and Foot Drill Competition, held on 17 October 2024 at 3KR in Lanet, Nakuru County. The event featured 9KR, 5KR, and 3KR, showcasing the tactical competence and coordination of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers.

9KR impressed the judges with their superior drill techniques and synchronization, securing first place. In addition, they produced the best company, best Officer Commanding, best platoon commander, best Company Sergeant Major, and best Drum Sergeant Major. 5KR followed in second place, producing the best platoon, while 3KR took third place with the best drum platoon performance.

Lieutenant Colonel John Chome, the senior evaluating officer, praised the participants’ personal drills and voice projection when issuing commands. He commended all competitors for their exemplary performance.

Commander 2 BDE, Brigadier William Kamoiro, served as the Chief Guest, applauding the participants for their dedication to excellence. He highlighted the importance of such competitions in honing soldiers’ skills and fostering unit cohesion. Brigadier Kamoiro urged all teams to continue improving their training and congratulated 9KR on their outstanding performance, advising them to remain vigilant as other teams strive for future victories.

“The dedication and teamwork displayed here today are a testament to the high standards of the Kenya Defence Forces,” remarked Brigadier Kamoiro.

The Arms and Foot Drill Competition is part of KDF’s efforts to maintain combat readiness, instil discipline, and boost morale and spirit de corps within its ranks. It serves as a key platform for promoting professionalism among soldiers and preparing them for the rigorous demands of military service.

The event brought together senior officers from formations within the Brigade, including Commanding Officer 9 KR, Lt Col Abraham Lagat, Commanding Officer 3 KR Lt Col Geoffrey Ndung’u, Commanding Officer 5 KR Lt Col Japheth Mulwa, Officers and Service Members.
