The new Cabinet Secretary for Defence Hon. Soipan Tuya today held an introductory meeting bringing together the Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru and the various Heads of Departments in the Ministry of Defence.
The meeting held at the Defence Headquarters was aimed at apprising the CS on the existing civilian Departments at the Ministry and their overall functions, in support of the Kenya Defence Forces to achieve their Constitutional mandate.
The CS committed to supporting the Departments to steer the Ministry forward while remaining accountable to the people of Kenya.
On his part, Dr. Mariru highlighted that both the military and civilian components have worked in synergy and teamwork which has enabled the Ministry awarded various accolades among them clean books of accounts for six years in a row, Financial Reporting (FiRe) awards and even excelling at the Nairobi International Trade Fair (NTIF) in the last two years.
He reiterated that the efficiency, effectiveness and integrity of the Ministry has seen the Ministry being assigned to undertake various government projects on behalf of other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He assured the CS of his total support as well as that of the various Departmental Heads to ensure the Ministry attains its objectives.
As highlighted by the CS, the Ministry looks forward to not reinventing the wheel but enhance performance for improved service delivery to the people of Kenya.
