As we move closer to celebrate Kenya Air Force @60. The officers, airmen, and women showcased resilience and endurance by completing a 60-kilometer walk and cycling exercise as a memorable way to commemorate the Service’s 60th anniversary.
This event, held ahead of the main celebrations set for 8th June 2024, saw the participation of 14 cyclists and 32 hikers, highlighting the unity and resilience of KAF personnel.
KAF participants enjoyed cycling and walking, showcasing their physical prowess and unwavering spirit. This event not only promotes physical fitness within the KAF but also serves as a public display of the Air Force’s pride and unity.
The event was flagged off by Kenya Air Force Deputy Commander , Brigadier Samwel Kipkorir, who emphasized the significance of the event as a tribute to the KAF’s legacy.
“This walk and bike ride are more than a test of physical strength; they are a testament to our collective commitment and the strong bonds that unite us as a Service,” he stated.
The route, planned to ensure both challenge and safety, took the cyclists and hikers through Nairobi, Kiambu, and Machakos Counties.
Along the way, participants supported each other, reflecting the teamwork and solidarity essential in military operations.
As the delegation approached the finish line at Moi Air Base officers’ mess, they were received by the Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri, underscoring the importance of the event within the broader context of the KAF’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
In his welcoming remarks, General Kahariri praised the participants for their dedication and endurance.
“Your commitment today exemplifies the unwavering spirit of the Kenya Air Force. This event not only commemorates the rich history but also inspires future generations to uphold the values of excellence and service,” he said.
The conclusion of the 60KM walk and bike ride marked a significant prelude to the main event where the Kenya Air Force will celebrate its six decades of service to the nation.
