PRESIDENT RUTO PRESIDES OVER RECRUITS’ PASS OUT PARADE AT DFRTS

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Kenya Defence Forces, presided over the Pass Out Parade of recruits at the Defence Forces Recruits Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret.

The parade marked the completion of six months of Basic Military Training, during which the recruits acquired skills including combat marksmanship, drill duties, career development, field craft, physical training among others.

During the ceremony, the recruits took an oath of allegiance before the C-in-C, officially entering the ranks of the Kenya Defence Forces. President Ruto awarded recruits who demonstrated exemplary performance throughout their training.

He congratulated the new soldiers for enduring the rigorous basic military training, urging them to uphold the values of courage, integrity, resilience, and honor, which define the noble tradition of the KDF.

“As you transition to your respective services, formations, and units, let me remind you of the nation’s expectations. You must live up to your professional duties by sustaining the attributes of selflessness, diligence, and teamwork. The oath of allegiance you have taken initiates a sacred trust on behalf of the people of Kenya, committing you irrevocably to embody the values of patriotism, professionalism, and loyalty as members of the KDF,” added the C-in-C.

The Cohort 01/23 is notable for its size and diversity, with over 4000 recruits, of which more than 1000 are Service Women, making it the largest in history. This underscores the Kenya Defence Forces’ commitment to gender equity.

The Pass Out Parade brought together a host of dignitaries among them CS Defence Hon Aden Duale, PS Defence Mr. Patrick Mariru, Chief of the Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri, Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant General John Omenda, Service Commanders, General Officers, Senior Officers, Officers, Service Members, Leaders from a number of County Governments as well as the citizenry.
