KDF HOSTS UPDF FOR BENCHMARK

The Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy at the Defence Headquarters, Brigadier Richard Mwanzia, today hosted senior officers from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) who are in the country for a benchmarking exercise.

In his remarks, Brig Mwanzia reiterated the already existing cordial relations between Kenya and Uganda, adding that the forum provided a firm platform to share ideas, experiences and the challenges the two militaries encounter.

“Coming to benchmark with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is indeed a major mark of confidence and appreciation of what we do within our mandate of enhancing peace, security and stability in Kenya and by extension, our region,” said the Brigadier.

His sentiments were corroborated by the head of UPDF Delegation, Brigadier General James Kinalwa, who observed that the two friendly States share a lot in common.

Brig Gen Kinalwa, who is the Chief of Personnel and Administration, noted that numerous UPDF soldiers have trained in Kenya to enhance their capacity thereby adopting best practices and fostering interoperability.

“UPDF and KDF personnel have been in various theatres together including Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo and many other peace support operations far and wide. Our coming to benchmark with Kenya is because we have a lot to learn from them even as we contend with identical security threats,” said the Head of delegation.
