Base Commander Moi Air Base (MAB) Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir, presided over the official opening of the MAB Safety Awareness Week at the MAB Gymnasium hall in Nairobi.
The Base Safety Awareness Week is an annual program held to enlighten service personnel on the importance of developing a safety culture to eliminate hazards and risks in their place of work and day-to-day life.
In his opening remarks, Brig Kipkorir stressed the importance of learning from previous accidents to prevent a recurrence.
“The base has performed well in lowering the prevalence of incidents and accidents and I urge you all to maintain the safety standards,” he added.
The Base Safety Officer, Major Patrick Ngatia said that human factors leading to accidents; road safety, Base security, firefighting, drug misuse and abuse as well as crash and rescue evacuation preparedness are key in ensuring everyone’s safety.
Also present during the event were, the Deputy Base Commander MAB Colonel Herbert Wafula, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
