The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) supported the finals of a month-long football league between Boraamani and Milimani Football Clubs (FC) in Mokowe, Lamu County with a view to promoting cohesion and sportsmanship among the youths.
The sporting activities are part of KDF’s efforts to foster community engagement and enable the various teams to demonstrate their exceptional talent and capabilities in sporting activities.
KDF’s involvement in the tournament underscores its commitment to engaging the youth in positive activities, steering them away from the allure of extremism and at the same time providing a formidable tool for promoting peace, unity, and resilience.
“The Kenya Defence Forces takes this opportunity to emphasize the significance of perseverance in sports as a means of personal development and as a crucial strategy in combating the ideologies that fuel violence,” said Colonel Yahya Mohamed of the National Counter Terrorism Centre during the sporting activities.
The efforts are part of the Security Sector Counter-Violent Extremism (SSCVE) in the region.
