The Commander Operation Amani Boni (OAB) also the Commander 8th brigade, Brigadier David Chesire, officially handed over the Command of the OAB to Brigadier Jattani Gula the Commander 4th brigade. In an eventful transition of command that took place today at Kenya Navy Base Manda, Brigadier Gula took over the multi-agency operation in the Boni enclave.
Expressing his gratitude during the ceremony, Brigadier Chesire acknowledged the steadfast support and collaboration from the multi-agency teams throughout their tour of duty, noting the importance of different expertise in the operation. Moreover, he applauded the outgoing team for their exceptional performance and mission success. He urged the incoming brigade to comprehend the complexity of their mission and emphasized the importance of teamwork.
On his part, Brigadier Gula, extended his appreciation to the outgoing team for their creditable work, recognizing the intricacies of Operation Amani Boni in Lamu County, he emphasized the existence of numerous challenges compared to those faced in the North Eastern Region where he had served earlier. Brigadier Gula urged the multi-agency team to provide the same level of support given to the outgoing commander to bring calm and stability in the region. He further urged his team to maintain the spirit of unity, resilience, commitment to mission objectives, reinforcing the strength and staying true to the brigade’s motto ‘The King of the Battle.’
The ceremony was attended by Commanders from The General Service Unit, Border Patrol Unit, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forest Service, as well as senior officers, officers and service members.
