The Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi, on 24 July 2020, presided over Specialist Cadets Commissioning parade at the Kenya Military Academy (KMA), Lanet in Nakuru.

Before addressing the Cadets, General Kibochi awarded trophies to those who excelled in various fields. The Best Cadet overall and winner of the Commandant’s award was Senior Under Officer (SUO) Moseti Hesbon Anyega of Kenya Air Force while the Second Best Cadet overall and winner of the Commandant’s award went to Cadet Adjutant Maingi Jephitha Kigunda of Kenya Navy. Best Cadet in Professional Studies was Junior Under Officer (JUO) Ombaba Francis Mosomi, Ngu’ono Joyce of Kenya army was Best Cadet in Character Development, while the award of Commandant’s Shield by Junior Officer Cherotich Brilliant of Kenya Air Force.
While giving his remarks, the CDF applauded the newly commissioned officers for their devotion and stamina during the rigorous six months of training that was exhibited in their parade display. He assured the commissioned Officers that every aspect of their training will not be in vain because it will help them in dispensing their duties diligently in respect with their specialization after deployment. General Kibochi urged the commissioned Officers to uphold the loyalty and adhere to KDF values that has made KDF’s name great in security spheres.
General Kibochi stressed the importance of adhering to the pillars of training that makes one to be a disciplined officers thus their specialty will not deter them from first being soldiers.” As Specialized Officers, you must follow everything that was culminated into your training and adhere to the pillars of training which are fundamentals of any soldier, this is to stay abreast with modernization needs of KDF to have Specialist within its services”, the CDF said.
The fields of their expertise include Journalism, IT Experts, Lawyers, Doctors, Mechanic and Electrical Engineers, Architects, Civil and Construction Engineers, Meteorologists, Dentists, Forensic Investigators (Cyber Security), Pharmacists, Veterinary Officers and Special Duty Officers Cadets.
