Air Operators drawn from Kenya Air Force (KAF) Units benefitted from an Air Operators seminar. The Commander KAF Major General John Omenda graced the opening session.
The aim of the seminar was to ensure that flight operations are safe and free of air accidents, equipment are handled in an effective and efficient manner and also to propagate a mutual understanding among all the aviators in various fields.
The event was facilitated by both internal and external Subject Matter Experts ( SMEs) including; MAB Safety Officer, KAF Headquarters Logistics Officer, MAB Aviation Hospital Senior Medical Officer, The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), Ministry of Transport and Kenya School of Government (KSG).
The areas covered included; Accident prevention and mitigation (crew resource management, handling of dangerous goods, Aviation Security, Online flight planning and flexible use of airspace), Air accidents investigation, review of accidents and lessons learnt, professional ethics, command relations, stress management, Aerospace medicine and medical, legal and logistic factors influencing Aviators .
Speaking during the event, Major General Omenda encouraged the officers on the importance of working as a team. He also talked about ways of exchange of knowledge that helps in working effectively, having good mental and physical health.
“During your exchange of ideas,remember there is no monopoly of knowledge let everyone be involved,” said the Commander KAF.
On his part, the Deputy Base Commander MAB Colonel Herbert Wafula said much had been put in, to make the seminar a success. “Let’s practice whatever has been taught here, make sure your discipline is as at per and know your roles and responsibilities,” he added.
The seminar ended with a market of ideas from the participants on other progressive ways to improve service delivery
