The Assistant Chief of Defence of Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L), Major General Muthuri Kiugu, today, 28 November 2022, officiated the Annual Delegates Meeting of the Defence Forces Comrades Association (DEFOCA) on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi. .
During the meeting that was conducted at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, financial and general audit reports on the Association were tabled and discussed.
In his remarks, Maj Gen Kiugu thanked the officials for their immense contribution in the growth of DEFOCA adding that KDF leadership is willing to do more to help improve the members’ wellbeing.
He also indicated that KDF has been able to put up new hospitals in most regions for easy access and fast medical care to its personnel. “Most you here agree with me that the Kenya Defence Forces has grown as a whole compared to the past years, and I am glad we are able to take care of our retirees as well as serving members,” he said.
Maj Gen Kiugu thereafter awarded certificates to the top performing 15 of 47 branches.
DEFOCA is a trust fund, non-profit making organization that promotes the welfare of registered serving and retired members of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). He Association archives this through by creating a cordial environment for comradeship beyond active service and also through investments.
Prior to the meeting, DEFOCA held a two – day medical camp and counseling programme for the retirees which touched on mental and physical health as well as financial management.
Also in attendance were Managing Director DEFOCA Brigadier Iddi Isak, Chief of Personnel Defence Headquarters Brigadier Elijah Gatere, Chief of Compensation and Welfare Brigadier John Khaoya, Senior Officers, Officers, Service Members both serving and retired.
