CS DEFENCE HOLDS STATUS UPDATE MEETING ON TALANTA STADIUM CONSTRUCTION

On 28th January 2025, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Defence, Hon. Soipan Tuya, and her counterpart from the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, held a status update meeting on the construction of Talanta Stadium at Talanta Plaza.

The Ministry of Defence is overseeing the construction works, which are currently at 35% completion, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports. The goal is to ensure the stadium is ready in time for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

During the meeting, the CSs were briefed on the progress of the project. Hon. Tuya commended the dedication of the teams involved and emphasized the importance of adhering to project specifications for the effective and timely completion of the works. She also highlighted the need for synchronized efforts between the two Ministries to ensure seamless implementation of the project.

Hon. Mvurya echoed her sentiments, praising the collaboration between the Ministries, which he said has accelerated the construction process.

Also present at the meeting were PS Sports Eng. Peter Tum, Brigadier Titus Sokobe from Defence Headquarters, CEO of the Sports Fund Nuh Ibrahim, senior KDF officials, and representatives from Sports Kenya.
