MARSABIT AIR CRASH

Monday, 10th April 2006 will go down in history as one of the saddest moment for the Kenya Air Force and the entire nation. On this fateful day, an Air Force Aircraft , Y-12 tail number 132, with 14 passengers on board crashed at Marsarbit killing eleven and injuring three passangers on board. The deceased included an assistant Minister, five Members of Parliament, a District Commissioner, a bishop and six police and military personnel. The entourage was on a peace making mission among the local communities ravaged by inter-ethnic violence.

The Kenya Air Force fraternity joins the families, relatives, friends and the entire Nation in remembering and mourning the fallen heroes, namely;

  • Hon. Mirugi Kariuki, assistant minister for Internal Security and MP Nakuru Town, who was also leader of the delegation.
  • Dr Bonaya Godana, Deputy Leader of Official Opposition and MP for North Horr.
  • Retired Lieutenant General Abdulahi Aden, MP in the East African Legislative Assembly.
  • Hon. Abdi Sasura (Saku).
  • Hon. Titus Ngoyoni, assistant minister for Regional Development and MP for Laisamis.
  • Hon. Guracha Galgallo (Moyale).
  • Thomas Chigamba, Eastern Provincial Police Officer.
  • Rev William Wako of the Anglican Church.
  • Moyale DC Peter King'ola.
  • Major David Macharia Njoroge.
  • Kenya Air force pilot, Captain Joseph Njogu Mureithi.
  • Kenya Air force pilot, Mr John Ouma.
  • Provincial Intelligence Officer, Mr Gilbert Sian'ga.
  • Under Secretary in the Office of the President and Police Constable Yusuf Nguyo.
