The Kenya Navy performed the trooping of the colour parade during the 46 th Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Nyayo stadium on 12 December 2009. The occasion was presided over by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and President of the republic of Kenya His Excellency Mwai Kibaki.
Since its inception, the Kenya Navy has expanded tremendously and has two bases, Mtongwe in Mombasa and Manda Bay in Lamu. The Kenya Navy Base in Mtongwe is the custodian of the Presidential colour. It was handed over to them by the late President, His Excellency Mzee Jomo Kenyatta on 21 st August 1970 at Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa . In 1982, the colour was replaced and a new one trooped at Jamhuri Park in Nairobi . There after the Navy has trooped its colour twice; on 10 th October 2009 and 12 th December 2000.
The Kenya Navy conducted a wonderful trooping of the colour parade which was lauded by the Head of State and members of the public at large. The honor of Trooping of the Color is a very significant event for a unit and it is recorded in history. ....Pictorials
